Weather permitting, it’s a wonderful place to relax before heading out for dinner or to simply unwind after a busy day of sightseeing. On the terrace is our Petra Sky Lounge and comfortable seating to enjoy the sunset.
Each morning we invite you to enjoy a halal or breakfast buffet served in our Petra Sky Lounge. The buffet is filled with an array of delicious food choices and beverages.
About the owner
Eid Nawafleh was born and raised in Wadi Musa where his family has lived for generations. He is a Petra Bedouin from a large family who have their village in the immediate area. He was educated in Wadi Musa and went to and from school on his donkey. He studied film direction in Amman, during which time he directed an amateur film of the local Bedouin community’s interaction with Western society. He also worked producing adverts and other material.
In 2004 Eid pursued a Tourism Destination Management Course diploma at George Washington University to enhance his tourism knowledge. Mr. Nawafleh has a great love and respect for his birthplace and Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Eid has a gift of starting profitable businesses and creating healthy economies for the people of Jordan.
This course drew his attention as it focuses on developing sustainable tourism to achieve a balance between the environmental, economic, and socio-cultural aspects of the area to guarantee long-term benefits to recipient communities.

He owns several companies including Jordan Tours, Jordan Production Film Services, Petra Kitchen, Made in Jordan Gallery Gift Shop; and lastly, the Petra Boutique Hotel. Eid is well known as the Founder of Petra by Night; an amazing candlelit evening experience inside Petra at the famous Treasury.
While most of the Nawafleh family is involved in the tourism sector, Eid desired to introduce a new aspect of tourism to the region. When he first got started with tourism, he focused on film crews and news stations in Jordan at the time of the Gulf war. This field led him to organize excursions for these crews throughout Jordan. He is the first in the family to open his own tourism company, Jordan Tours and Travel.

Over a decade ago Eid introduced the concept of 5-star camping in Wadi Rum, incorporating the Bedouin experience by training those interacting with Westerners to cater to their needs in a way that showed an authentic Bedouin lifestyle, while at the same time finding common ground between the two cultures. Guests were able to fully experience the Bedouin culture while still enjoying some of the western comforts.
Eid started the Petra Kitchen to allow tourists to join nightly cooking classes where they cook authentic local dishes alongside local chefs. These classes are still a favorite for many tourists for they not only make the dishes; they then get to eat them and enjoy the fruit of their labors in a casual family atmosphere. Due to the success of this business, Eid imagined a building a hotel on the same site of the Petra Kitchen. He put together plans for the Petra Boutique Hotel, which newly opened in 2019. Petra Kitchen is now inside this beautiful hotel so hotel guests and other Petra tourists can still enjoy this experience.
